Our hiring process isn’t a lengthy parade of interviews, anxious waiting and unfair questions. We want to be different. And we seek out those who are different. Fearless folk, quirky creatives and inspiring individuals who put their heart and soul into what they do. The words ‘Work’ and ‘Happy’ don’t often go hand in hand. We want to change this.

1. Finding the Role

You’ve seen Kubix on your social media channels, or you’ve heard about us through friends or family. Either way, you’re on the hunt for something new, and you’re hoping that Kubix can provide this for you. Great start. If you like the sound of us, then we’re sure to like the sound of you.

If you’re keen to join our team, many of our available roles can be found in the Careers page on our website. Here we’ll list a description of any roles we’re looking to hire for, a little bit about working at Kubix and what we’d love to see in potential candidates that walk through our door.

But do not take this list as gospel. If you can’t spot the perfect role for you, it doesn’t matter. Our vacancies aren’t necessarily the definitive ‘be all and end all’ when it comes to Kubix Careers. If you love the sound of our team and think you could add value, then drop our team an email or knock on the door. We review each and every application that comes through our website, and then send out invitations to those we’d like to meet face-to-face.

2. Getting Here

Nobody likes to get invited to an office and realise that they have no idea where they’re based. Digbeth especially can be a bit of a minefield when it comes to parking and public transport (especially in recent years with all of the high street renovations). We’ve put together a handy guide for every type of transport, so that you can get to us on time, without the stress.

Our office is located in the heart of Digbeth at The Bond, a stunning canal-side building with almost two centuries of history. The Bond is located at 180-182 Fazeley Street, Birmingham B5 5SE. Upon arrival, use the intercom on the right of the black gates to enter the property. Give security your name and let them know you're here to meet Kubix and they'll open the gates for you. Once inside the courtyard, head towards the reception foyer on the left. Our friendly reception team will greet you and let us know you've arrived. One of our team will come down to meet you.

We're just down the road from Birmingham’s Custard Factory. Perfect for a post-work trip to Golf Fang for a round of crazy golf, or one of Digbeth’s many restaurants to sample the city’s finest street food vendors.

3. Your Travel Guide

Walking‍

Walking here? Eco-friendly. We like it. Our office is easily accessible from Birmingham’s Bullring and city centre. If you’re walking from the city centre and along Digbeth High Street, when you reach the opening of Floodgate Street, turn left at the John F. Kennedy Memorial opposite South and City College. Continue walking along Floodgate Street for 3-4 minutes until you reach Fazeley Street at the end of the road. You will see the entrance to The Bond on your left.

Driving

Driving in? If you’re using your own four wheels, you’ll want to know the best places to park. There are a number of car parks close to The Bond, including The Zellig Car Park, which is a 5 minute walk away. Drive down Digbeth High Street and you’ll spot a big car park on the left just before you reach Heath Mill Lane. There is also additional space at Trinity Street car park further down Heath Mill Lane, just a stone’s throw from popular bars such as Birdies and Zumhof.

Getting the Train

Our office is only a short walk from all of the city’s major train stations. Both Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Moor Street are 15 minutes away, and run services from all of the surrounding Birmingham suburbs and the wider West Midlands.

Getting the Bus

If you’re hopping on the bus, there are various bus routes that pull up in or around the Digbeth area. Each of the following transport lines have routes that pass near our offices: 16A, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 50 and X1. 

Still struggling with your route? Whether you’re flying, horse-riding or parachuting into Digbeth, just get in touch. One of our team will gladly help direct you with relevant maps or advice.

4. Settling In

What better way to get to know our Kubix office than to dive straight into the heart of it all? Good conversation starts with good coffee, which is why one of our team will lead you straight to our breakout space for a brew. Our chill-out area is where all our days begin. Whether it’s settling into the morning with a bowl of porridge or popping the kettle on, our chill-out space is always a hive of activity before the working day begins. If the weather is on our side, we might even take you to our outdoor seating area, right next to the canal. We believe that inviting our interview candidates for a drink is the best way to start getting to know you. Why not indulge in one of our unique roasts, or treat yourself to a signature herbal tea? Whether you’re a latte lover or an Americano aficionado, we’ll get you settled in with a drink of your choice.

5. Your Time to Shine

Now that the smell of freshly brewed coffee is filling the boardroom, it’s time to get down to business. This is our favourite part of the process. Why? Because as soon as you’re sitting in the boardroom with one or two of our relevant team members, it’s your time to shine.

We want to know what makes you you. Where your passions lie, what you do in your spare time, what you want to achieve in your career, and how Kubix can potentially get you there.

We don’t believe in long lists of questions, and tricky presentations designed to get you flustered. If anything, our interview team will do all they can to ensure that your interview is a fluster-free zone. 

Of course, we’ll always cover off some of the basics. If you’re a developer, we would expect you to know your Liquid code from your PHP. Likewise if you claim to be the next best thing in SEO, we’ll expect you to know your CPC from your CRO. But once those formalities are out of the way, the time is yours. Make it count. As our CEO Looay loves to say: opportunities are not missed. They are simply seized by others. 

Four little words mark the start of our Kubix mission statement: Never Stop Growing - Together. Four words; one vision for us and our clients. If you have a desire to grow and to help those around you, then in a Kubix interview you won’t go far wrong. Find a way to surprise and delight us, and we’ll be introducing you to the rest of the team in no time. And chances are you’ll already know how to work the coffee machine.

6. Getting Feedback

Waiting to hear whether you’ve landed a role or not can be a hideous, nail-biting time. Here at Kubix, we don’t believe in keeping you waiting. We also don’t believe in pulling you back to our offices for interview after interview, or giving you dozens of tasks to complete. If it’s right, then we want you to know as soon as possible. And if it’s not, then we see no point in dragging it out. Many of our interviewees receive honest feedback straight away to get an idea of how they performed, and will be told about the next steps in the process. Naturally when we have multiple candidates for a role, then the process might take a couple of weeks, but we believe in keeping you updated on the position regularly.

Sometimes fate intervenes. We’ve had cases where we’ve said to a candidate that it wasn’t the right time for them. Perhaps they were up against some fierce contenders for a competitive role. Perhaps they were too late in applying. Then something changes. Another role lands on our Kubix desks, and we know instantly that the person we met a while back would suit it perfectly. We believe in keeping those lines of communication open and honest, so that no one misses an opportunity that would be ideal for them.

(Psst… the secret word is rainbow. We’ll say no more.)

7. And When You’ve Done It?

This is it. You’ve smashed the interview, mastered the coffee machine and now you’ve got a brand new Kubix job offer sitting patiently in your email inbox.
